Options for Returning Purchased Vignettes

Did you make a mistake when buying an electronic vignette? In the cases described below, you can request a refund.

Refunds for purchased vignettes can be requested for the following reasons:

If you have purchased a vignette for the same vehicle twice and there is complete or partial overlap in the validity of the vignettes purchased, you can apply for a refund of one of the vignettes.

If there are two identical types of vignettes, for example two annual vignettes, then you can request a refund of the vignette with the later start of validity if the expiry date of the vignette with the earlier start of validity has not yet occurred.

If there are two different types of vignettes, for example an annual vignette and a ten-day vignette, you can only request a refund of the ten-day vignette and only in the cases defined in the Payment Terms and Conditions.

Attach copies of both (or all) payment receipts to which the purchase is linked.

If you have accidentally purchased a vignette for a non-existent license plate number, you can request a refund.

If “CZ” is filled in as the country of registration for the given vignette, we will check for the non-existence of the license plate number for you. In this case, you only need to provide a copy of the receipt to your request.

If a country of registration other than “CZ” is filled in for the given vignette, please, provide not only a copy of the payment receipt with your refund request, but also an excerpt from the vehicle register of the country, insurance company, or another institute according to the applicable legislation of the country that was listed as the country of registration, with an official translation into the Czech language (except for the Slovak Republic), which proves the non-existence of the vehicle in question, except for the countries of registration listed in the Payment Terms and Conditions.

If you have mistakenly entered the wrong country of registration on your vignette, you can apply for a refund.

Attach a copy of the payment receipt and registration certificate of the vehicle for which the vignette was to be purchased to the application proving the error in the state of registration.

If you have purchased a vignette for an exempt vehicle, you can apply for a refund.

Attach a copy of the payment receipt and vehicle registration certificate or other document proving that it is an exempt vehicle.

If you have purchased a vignette for a vehicle for which a vignette is not required, such as a vehicle over 3.5 tonnes, motorcycle, or trailer, you can request a refund.

Attach a copy of the payment receipt and vehicle registration certificate or other document confirming that the vehicle is not subject to time charging.

If you bought a vignette at a higher price for a vehicle that is eligible for the Eco price, you can claim the difference.

Attach a copy of the payment receipt and vehicle registration certificate or other document confirming that the vehicle is powered by a drive system eligible for the Eco price.

If you have bought an Eco price vignette for a vehicle that is not eligible, you can apply for a refund, but only if you have also bought a correctly priced vignette for the same vehicle for the same period.

Please attach a copy of both payment receipts to your application.

If you have purchased a vignette on the basis of incorrect or incomplete information in the Register of Motor Vehicles, you must first change the information at any local authority. More information can be found here.

You can then apply for a refund under points 1 to 7.

Submit your refund by completing the Request for the refund of the electronic vignette form. The mandatory attachments for each of the individual cases are specified above. The refund request can be submitted within three years from the date of purchase of the vignette, unless otherwise stated in the Payment Terms and Conditions.

For more information on the individual refund grounds, including a list of the required attachments, see also Section XV. the Payment Terms and Conditions.

A handling fee of CZK 75 will be charged for the refund of the paid vignette.

Refunds of payments made from bank accounts held in the Czech Republic or SEPA countries are not subject to any additional order execution fee beyond the handling fee, except for payments held as “foreign”. Foreign refunds to SEPA countries are subject to an order execution fee of CZK 450.

Refunds of foreign payments made by electronic transfers from bank accounts outside SEPA countries are subject to an order execution fee of CZK 150.
