What should I do if the fuel type of my vehicle is not registered correctly?

a) If you need to get on the road immediately, purchase the vignette for the fuel type selected for you on the basis of the information in the Register of Motor Vehicles.

b) If you don’t need to get on the road right away, follow point 2 and wait for the change of data in the Register of Motor Vehicles, then pay the vignette price.

If you are purchasing a vignette for a fuel type selected according to incorrect or incomplete data in the Register of Motor Vehicles, we recommend correcting the data at the Vehicle Registry Office at any municipal office of the municipality with extended jurisdiction or electronically on the Transportation Portal. If a discrepancy is found between the data in the Register of Motor Vehicles and the Technical Licence or Vehicle Registration Certificate, it is necessary to ask the Vehicle Registry Office to complete or correct the data. Upon presentation of the vehicle documents at the Register of Motor Vehicles, an official correction of incorrect or incomplete data will be made. The second option is to submit an amendment request via the Transportation Portal https://portaldopravy.cz/ – you can submit a request to record changes to the data in the Vehicles section. Upload the vehicle documents to the application attachment, select the office to correct the registration and submit the application. You will then wait for information about the data correction. This change is free of charge, without an administrative fee.

Once the information in the Register of Motor Vehicles has been corrected, you can apply for a refund of the price difference if you are entitled to it.

Once your request for a refund has been processed, the difference will be refunded to you. For vignettes purchased at a point of sale, the funds will be refunded to the bank account specified in the request. In other cases, the funds are returned in the same way as the vignette was purchased.

Vignettes purchased for a fuel type selected based on incorrect or incomplete data in the Register of Motor Vehicles do not incur a handling fee for the request’s processing.
