Vehicles registered in the Czech Republic
In the case of a change of the licence plate number of a vehicle registered in the Czech Republic, it is not necessary to submit a Notification of a change of licence plate number if information on the original and new licence plate is available in the Register of Motor Vehicles. In this case the change will be made automatically. After the licence plate number change is automatically made, a change confirmation is sent to the confirmation email if one was provided when the order was placed. If the necessary information for an automatic licence plate change is not available in the Register of Motor Vehicles, you must notify us of the change. For more information, see the ‘Other vehicles’ section below.
In the case of a transfer plate that is valid for ten days, it recommends the purchase of a short-term vignette, as the details of transfer plates are generally not listed in the Register of Motor Vehicles and subsequent changes to the number plate may not be possible.
Other vehicles (such as those vehicles registered abroad)
If the licence plate number of your vehicle has changed, please use the form Notification of a change of license plate number to notify us and we will transfer your existing vignette to the new licence plate number.
You can only make a change on the basis of the notification if your vehicle license plate number has changed for the same vehicle for the following reasons:
- License plate was lost
- License plate was destroyed
- License plate was stolen
- License plate number was changed
The change cannot be made if the vignette would be transferred to a vehicle other than the one for which it was purchased.
To change the vignette to a new license plate number, you must provide:
- Filled out Notification of a change of license plate number form
- A copy of the document documenting the licence plate change within the same vehicle, showing the original and new licence plate and the VIN code of the vehicle, except for vehicles registered in the Czech Republic, if this change can be verified in the Register of Motor Vehicles

Good to Know
If you entered a wrong license plate number or country of registration when you bought your vignette, you can correct the error:
Before the vignette becomes valid, you can change the license plate number and the country of registration of the vehicle once in the Vignette Administration section.
During the vignette validity period, up to two characters on the license plate number and the country of registration of the vehicle can be changed once at the Vignette Administration section.
